REVIEW: What’s behind Singapore Airlines’ Ultra-Exclusive First Class called “The Private Room”?
The Private Room at Singapore Changi Airport is one of the most exclusive first-class lounges in the world, accessible only to passengers flying Singapore Airlines First Class to or from Singapore. Below is a brief look at the lounge’s features and what makes it special. We also have a video review ready!
Location & Design
The lounge is easy to find, located near other Singapore Airlines lounges, and marked with elegant copper and blue tones. Upon entering, you’re greeted and escorted in, emphasizing the exclusivity of the space. The design carries a luxurious yet understated theme, with copper tones recurring throughout the lounge, including the bathrooms.
Seating & Atmosphere
The Private Room isn’t the largest lounge but offers ample seating options, including couches, chairs, and desk-like areas for work. The lounge’s quiet and uncrowded atmosphere is its most significant draw, making it a peaceful retreat for travelers. Large windows allow a view of the airport interior, perfect for people-watching while you relax.
Dining Experience
The lounge features a dedicated restaurant area. Although there are some self-service options like cakes and snacks, most items are ordered from an à la carte menu. Highlights include:
Watermelon Juice: Refreshing and perfectly chilled.
Lobster Bisque: Exceptional and highly recommended (we couldn’t resist ordering several servings).
Other menu options were of decent quality, comparable to a good restaurant, though not extraordinary.
Amenities
Nap Rooms: Ideal for longer layovers, though we didn’t use them during our short visit.
Power Access: USB ports, wireless charging pads, and power plugs are conveniently placed throughout the lounge.
Bathrooms: Elegant with high-end fixtures and thoughtful touches, like a child-sized sink.
Conclusion
While The Private Room excels in exclusivity, comfort, and elegant design, it doesn’t offer groundbreaking amenities beyond the essentials like good food, quiet space, and nap rooms. The highlight is its serene environment—perfect for unwinding during a layover.
Would we go out of our way to visit this lounge? Probably not. But if you’re flying First Class with Singapore Airlines, this is a must-visit for its luxury, peace, and quiet.
