The Basics

The Waldorf Astoria Osaka is now open for reservations, with stays beginning on April 14, 2025. This 252-room property marks the Waldorf Astoria brand’s debut in Japan. It will occupy the upper floors (levels 28 through 38) of the Grand Front Osaka South Building, located in Osaka’s vibrant Umekita area.

Although detailed information is still limited, the hotel promises to be a standout city property. Highlights include three dining venues and a wellness area featuring a spa, fitness center, and indoor pool. The rooms are generously sized, starting at 520 square feet (48 square meters).

Osaka’s hotel scene continues to improve, spurred on by the upcoming Expo 2025 Osaka, which coincides with this hotel’s grand opening. We’ve recently seen the debut of the Four Seasons Osaka, which introduced some innovative modern ryokan-style rooms.

Luxury points hotels are plentiful in Osaka, including the Conrad, Ritz-Carlton, and St. Regis. Currently, the Conrad is regarded as the city’s most luxurious points property due to its modern design, as the Ritz-Carlton and St. Regis lean toward more classic styles. The Waldorf Astoria looks poised to raise the bar further.

Rates & Points Requirements

What can we expect in terms of pricing? Cash rates start at just under $1,000 per night, placing it at the high end of Osaka’s market, particularly with the current weakness of the Japanese Yen.

For Hilton Honors members, the property currently starts at 100,000 points per night for a standard room. With Hilton Honors points valued at around 0.5 cents each, this offers excellent value for redemptions. Elite members can maximize value by redeeming points for five nights, as the fifth night is free. This reduces the average nightly cost to just 80,000 points.

The Waldorf Astoria Osaka is set to open its doors in April 2025, offering a stunning new option in Osaka’s luxury points hotel scene. Its design, amenities, and excellent value for Hilton Honors points make it an attractive choice for travelers. If you’re planning a trip to Osaka and have Hilton Honors points, this property should definitely be on your radar!
