Overview

Nestled in the heart of the city and directly adjacent to a serene canal, this boutique hotel, part of the prestigious Marriott Bonvoy's Design Hotels, offers an eclectic and intimate retreat. With around 20 uniquely designed rooms, it stands out as a stylish haven for travelers seeking both luxury and a touch of local charm. Though the price for the biggest suite is around 700 USD per night, the experience it offers is unparalleled, blending modern comforts with a historic ambiance.

Accommodation

The hotel’s accommodation options cater to a variety of preferences. The suite we stayed in was located on the second floor, offering a blend of privacy and style. However, it's worth noting that rooms on the first floor might be less private, as people can pass by outside. Additionally, some rooms face inwards into the lobby hall, lacking outside windows. Despite this, the overall design of the rooms is modern and thoughtful, making efficient use of the space within this historic warehouse building.

Location

Situated right next to the canal and in close proximity to Clarke Quay, the hotel boasts an enviable location. The area is brimming with a plethora of restaurants, ensuring guests have numerous dining options within walking distance. The vibrant nightlife and cultural hotspots of Clarke Quay are just a stone's throw away, adding to the hotel’s appeal for those looking to explore the city's dynamic offerings.

Amenities

One of the surprising features of this boutique hotel is its swimming pool, located on the second floor between the warehouse and the car bridge. Although it might not be the most luxurious pool, its existence adds a refreshing touch to the stay, providing a unique spot for a quick dip in an unusual setting.

Dining

Breakfast at the hotel is a unique experience. Not included for status members, guests have to fully self-pay for their meal, which is offered a la carte rather than as a buffet. The cost is approximately 50 SGD per person. Breakfast is served in the hotel's restaurant, PO, which is renowned for its exquisite Peranakan cuisine. This dining experience is a culinary highlight, showcasing the rich and diverse flavors of local cuisine.

Service and Hospitality

The lobby area of the hotel is a stylish and inviting space, perfect for relaxation or casual meetings. As a nice touch, we received two welcome drink vouchers, likely due to our status with Marriott Bonvoy. The overall service was attentive and personable, enhancing the intimate and boutique feel of the hotel.

Final Thoughts

This hotel is an unusual and charming boutique property housed in an old warehouse. It seamlessly blends modern amenities with a historic setting, offering a unique stay in the middle of the city. Despite a few quirks, such as the varying window views and the a la carte breakfast, the hotel’s design, location, and overall ambiance make it a compelling choice for discerning travelers looking for something a bit different from the typical luxury hotel experience.

Whether you're in town for business or leisure, this hotel offers a distinctive and memorable stay, combining the best of both worlds: the intimacy and charm of a boutique property with the quality and service you expect from a member of the Marriott Bonvoy's Design Hotels.
