Planning a trip to the United States or Europe? Why not fly with LOT, Poland’s national airline

LOT’s business class in 2-2-2 configuration (Source)

I previously discussed the Polish airline LOT in a blog post here. One thing I highlighted there is the airline’s strong network connecting the US to Europe - fly from Miami, New York City and a few other cities to Poland and connect further to virtually all European countries, including major holiday destinations (Croatia, Italy, Spain, Greece).

US to Poland routes:

Los Angeles (LAX) - Warsaw (WAW)
Chicago (ORD) - Warsaw (WAW)
Chicago (ORD) - Krakow (KRK)
New York City (JFK) - Warsaw (WAW)
New York (EWR) - Warsaw (WAW)
New York (EWR) - Krakow (KRK)
Miami (MIA) - Warsaw (WAW)

While LOT’s business class is arguably outdated, it is usually sold at very attractive prices. If a 2-2-2 configuration does not scare you off (I personally find it quite okay when traveling with someone together), you can find some good deals.

As LOT is part of the Lufthansa Group and thus Star Alliance, you can make use of your status and get benefits, such as larger luggage allowance and lounge access.

An economy standard ticket last-minute for the summer from New York City to Bucharest, Romania, costs you around 1,150 USD. If you have a status that gives you additional luggage allowance, you could save 100 USD per leg by opting for an Economy Saver ticket.

In booking class W (Economy Standard), you can collect miles based on 50% of the distance with e.g. Air Canada’s Aeroplan or Ana’s Mileage Club. LOT’s own loyalty program Miles&More (Lufthansa Group) only yields you 25% of the mileage distance.
