These Hilton Honors sweetspots should be on your list!

The Hilton group offers a wide range of luxurious hotels. Although there is no longer an official award chart with fixed point prices for a stay, numerous hotels still offer exceptional value per point. The colleagues from meilenoptimieren.com (only in German) did a great write-up that I want to share here.

Is There a Hilton Honors Award Chart?

Even though Hilton Honors has officially done away with hotel categories, all hotels bookable through the Hilton Honors program can still be categorized into approximately 15 levels. These categories determine the maximum number of points required for a night. Hilton Category 1 hotels require a maximum of 5,000 points per night. At the high end, Category 15 hotels used to cap at 95,000 points per night, which was later raised to 120,000 points. Currently, the cap is 150,000 points, a rate only required by the Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi (New maximum points price at Hilton Honors: 150,000 points/night for the Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi). This ranking correlates with the average price for a night. As detailed in "What Are Hilton Points Worth?", there are still exceptions, especially among the expensive luxury hotels at the upper end.

Hilton Honors Sweetspots – Methodology

Before diving into the Hilton Honors Sweetspots, here's a brief note on the methodology. To calculate the value of a Hilton Honors point upon redemption, we compared the standard points price to the lowest and highest prices over the coming year. Periods with significant price outliers, such as Christmas or holidays, were ignored. Typically, the value of a point should fall within the indicated range but may vary in individual cases. Since room rates fluctuate throughout the year, these calculated values should be considered as rough guides.

In addition to the value per point, we also calculated the effective savings that can be achieved through purchasing Hilton points. We used a purchase price of 0.5 cents per point, which is often available several times a year. We also considered the Hilton Honors 5th Night Free Award, which allows Hilton Honors status holders to book 5 nights for the price of 4.

Finding Hilton Honors Availability

For some hotels featured in this article, it can be challenging to find availability at the standard points price. It's recommended to familiarize yourself with the Hilton Honors calendar search and/or the MaxMyPoint Hotel Rewards Checker. Both tools display prices and availability in a monthly overview, allowing you to check the entire year's availability in minutes.

Hilton Honors Promotions to buy points

You can generally buy Hilton Honors points at any time. However, the ratio is set at 1.0 cents/point, which is not the greatest. To increase your savings wait for the regular points promotions where Hilton is selling points with a 100% bonus. That way, each point will only cost you 0.5 cents/point!
