Star Alliance Lounge Opens in Guangzhou
Star Alliance operates its own lounges at various airports worldwide. On November 21, 2024, Star Alliance announced the opening of a new lounge in Guangzhou, China. This is the seventh lounge of the aviation alliance globally and the first of its kind in Asia.
Location and Features of the Star Alliance Lounge in Guangzhou
The new Star Alliance Lounge is located in Terminal 1 of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, on the third floor of the international section A. It is conveniently situated near the gates regularly used by member airlines. Spanning 750 square meters (8,073 square feet), it can accommodate up to 100 travelers. Visitors can enjoy views of the tarmac through the glass facade or make use of the buffet and work areas. Additionally, there are private rooms, conference facilities, and shower areas. The buffet offers a selection of hot and cold dishes.
Access to the lounge is available for First Class and Business Class passengers, as well as Star Alliance Gold Status customers, on flights departing from Terminal 1 with Star Alliance airlines. The lounge is open 24/7 and is managed by Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Business Travel Service Co., Ltd. Further information can be found on the Star Alliance website.
A Growing Network of Star Alliance Lounges
In addition to member-operated lounges, Star Alliance maintains its own lounges at select airports. These are typically key aviation hubs that are not home airports for any member airline. Current Star Alliance lounges are located in Paris, Rome, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and now Guangzhou.
Guangzhou, a port city in southern China, is a major center for the textile industry. For this reason, ten Star Alliance member airlines serve Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport: Air China, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Egyptair, Ethiopian Airlines, EVA Air, Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, and Turkish Airlines. Together, these airlines operate 774 weekly flights to 50 destinations across ten countries. A new Terminal 3 is set to open at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in 2025, and Star Alliance plans to offer another lounge in this terminal.
