Now, many travelers might be wondering—where exactly is Miyakojima? When a luxury international brand enters Japan, it’s usually in Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka. But this resort is located on Miyako Island, part of the city of Miyakojima in Okinawa Prefecture—a region famed for its crystal-clear waters and white-sand beaches.

To reach the property, you’ll want to fly into Miyakojima Airport (MMY), which has frequent flights from Tokyo, Osaka, and other Japanese cities. With Tokyo Haneda just over 1,100 miles away, the flight takes around 2.5 hours. From the airport, it’s about a 20-minute drive to the resort.
What to Expect at the Resort
The Rosewood Miyakojima is a 55-key beachfront resort located on a secluded peninsula, surrounded on three sides by dramatic coastlines and turquoise waters teeming with coral reefs and sea turtles.
Accommodations range from the Ocean View Villa (645 sq ft / 60 sq m) to the expansive Kamii House (2,152 sq ft / 200 sq m). Every unit comes with its own private pool, offering both comfort and privacy.

Beyond the resort, there are countless natural attractions: from the stone arch of Sunayama Beach, to the picturesque lighthouse at Higashi-Hennazaki Cape, to the world-class sands of Yonaha Maehama, often ranked Japan’s best beach and known for its stunning sunsets.
A New Type of Japanese Getaway
Japan remains one of our all-time favorite travel destinations—but we rarely associate it with tropical beach resorts. Rosewood Miyakojima changes that. If you’re dreaming of a stay that blends Japanese hospitality, cuisine, and cultural elegance with luxury beachside relaxation, this resort may just be your dream escape.
Rates & How to Book
Rates at Rosewood Miyakojima reflect the level of luxury you’d expect. While the weakened Japanese Yen provides some relief for international travelers, nightly rates for entry-level accommodations typically fall between 160,000 and 250,000 JPY (around $1,050 to $1,650), excluding taxes and fees. Rates fluctuate depending on the season and room type.

Thanks to an opening promotion, guests can enjoy a property credit of 20,000 to 50,000 JPY ($130 to $330), based on their room category.
We appreciate that Rosewood’s website offers a calendar view of rates, making it easy to compare pricing across multiple dates.
Conclusion
Rosewood Miyakojima is now welcoming guests as of March 2025—and we couldn’t be more intrigued. It’s not every day that a luxury international brand opens a beach resort in Japan, and this one blends stunning natural surroundings with Rosewood’s signature style and hospitality.
