Singapore Airlines offers Marriott Bonvoy status holders the opportunity to obtain KrisFlyer Silver or Gold status after a few flights with Singapore Airlines. The Star Alliance Silver or Gold status is then valid for a full 12 months but must be renewed normally thereafter. To do this, you must connect your Marriott Bonvoy account with your KrisFlyer account via the following link and then fulfill the task:

KrisFlyer Status for Marriott Status Customers

As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member, you receive the KrisFlyer Silver status (= Star Alliance Silver) if you complete at least two flights with Singapore Airlines within the first 6 months after linking the two accounts. It gets more interesting if you hold at least the Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite status.

After linking the accounts, you will receive the KrisFlyer Silver status (= Star Alliance Silver) within a few days (according to conditions 7–10 days) for at least 12 months. Additionally, you have the chance to get the KrisFlyer Gold status for at least 12 months if you complete four flights with Singapore Airlines within the first 6 months.

For Marriott Bonvoy Platinum / Titanium / Ambassador Elite:

Tip: Don't have status with Marriott yet? For the Marriott Bonvoy Gold & Platinum status, there is again a challenge for which you don't need to prove status with another hotel chain. After 8 nights within three months, you get the Gold status, and after 16 nights, the Platinum status.

With KrisFlyer, a frequent flyer status is generally valid for a full 12 months. If you achieve the status, for example, on January 2nd, the status is valid until January 31st of the following year. There is currently no expiry date for the offer. However, the partnership can be terminated at any time. Nevertheless, it is recommended to connect the accounts shortly before the flights (2–3 weeks in advance) to maximize the validity of the status.

Status Benefits

The benefits of KrisFlyer Silver are limited. It gets really interesting with the KrisFlyer Gold status, which is also a Star Alliance Gold status. This gives you on all Star Alliance flights:

Lounge access (including 1 guest)
Priority Check-in
Additional baggage allowance (except partially in the Light fare)
Preferred baggage handling
Fast Track at security Priority Boarding

In addition to the partnership with Marriott, KrisFlyer also has a partnership with the Shangri-La hotel chain. If you link your KrisFlyer and Shangri-La Circle accounts, you will receive the Golden Circle Gold status there directly, and with one night in a Shangri-La hotel, the Jade status. The reverse also works, but unfortunately, it is no longer as easy to obtain a Shangri-La status (since the partnership with Amex has ended).

Members who already have a Marriott Bonvoy Elite Gold status can thus extend the Marriott status by 12 months from the linking of the programs.
