A surprisingly big flight network - LOT Polish Airlines

LOT Polish Airlines, established in 1929, is the flag carrier of Poland and one of the oldest airlines in operation. Over its long history, it has built a reputation for safety, reliability, and quality service. The airline operates an extensive network of domestic and international routes, connecting Poland with major cities across Europe, Asia, North America, and the Middle East.

LOT Polish Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance, which enhances its global reach and provides passengers with seamless travel options. The airline is known for its modern fleet, which includes Boeing and Embraer aircraft, offering passengers comfortable and efficient travel experiences.

Flight Network

As a European airline, LOT naturally has a strong focus on European destinations. Nevertheless, the airline is sporting a few good long-distance routes that might be the kick-off for your next Europe vacation. Below are all the connections between Poland and the United States:

Los Angeles (LAX) - Warsaw (WAW)
Chicago (ORD) - Warsaw (WAW)
Chicago (ORD) - Krakow (KRK)
New York City (JFK) - Warsaw (WAW)
New York (EWR) - Warsaw (WAW)
New York (EWR) - Krakow (KRK)
Miami (MIA) - Warsaw (WAW)

LOT Airline Fleet

LOT has a few different types of planes, including Boeing 787s, Airbus A330s, Boeing B737s and a few Embraer planes.

For its long-distance connections, LOT is mainly using Boeing B787-8 and B787-9 Dreamliner planes in a 3-class configuration: Business, Premium Economy and Economy.

Business Class

LOT’s business class certainly is nothing to write home about. In fact, they are still using a 2-2-2 seating layout in their business class to this day, which is just not up to par anymore (although these configurations seem to be persistent with some European airlines - looking at you, Lufthansa).

You do get a lie-flat seat and traveling with your partner might mitigate the annoyance of having to step over someone when you have the window seat. What makes LOT Airlines interesting is that they are offering fairly low air fares. When briefly checking the Business Class options for the route Chicago - Warsaw - Berlin, LOT is one of the cheapest airlines. Thus, if you don’t want to spend too much money and still get a lie-flat seat, this could be a great option for you.

Loyalty Program

LOT Airlines is part of Miles&More, a loyalty program that is mainly associated with Lufthansa. Miles&More miles can be earned and redeemed across all their immediate partners - LOT, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Discover Airlines, Swiss, Air Dolomiti, Croatia Airlines and Luxair (and of course across Star Alliance partners).

While I personally wouldn’t recommend spending your hard-earned miles for LOT flights, it might be a good way to use the cheap business class fares to earn some additional miles for your preferred Star Alliance partner. Make sure to check wheretocredit.com to see where you earn the most miles.

Conclusion

LOT Airlines is not the shiniest airline and certainly has to work on improving their business class experience. Nevertheless, the airline is offering some really attractive fares on long-distance flights between Europe and North America or Asia. If all you want is a lie-flat bed to get some rest, this could be a great option for your next Europe vacation.
