After adding partnerships with Bangkok Airways and Air India to its codeshare portfolio in May, the Lufthansa Group is now further deepening its collaboration with Thai Airways and Air Canada, as reported by airliners.de. The subsidiary airline Austrian Airlines is also entering into a closer partnership with the Thai airline.

Lufthansa Partners with Two Airlines

At the end of July, significant changes will take place within the Lufthansa Group. On July 24, both Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines will expand their partnerships with other airlines. Specifically, Lufthansa will extend its codeshare agreement with Thai Airways to cover 17 additional routes through its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich.

The partnership will include routes such as Frankfurt to Madrid, as well as domestic routes like Frankfurt to Dresden.

In addition to the enhanced partnership with Thai Airways, the codeshare agreement with Air Canada will also be expanded. This will include two new routes to India: Frankfurt to Hyderabad and Munich to Bangalore.

New Routes for Austrian Airlines

Austrian Airlines, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, will also deepen its partnership with Thai Airways. Starting July 24, eight routes to and from Bangkok will be simplified through this collaboration. Destinations will include Perth and Denpasar, as well as Hanoi and Hong Kong.

It is common for multiple airlines within the Lufthansa Group to participate in a codeshare agreement together. In February, Lufthansa, along with its subsidiaries Swiss, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines, signed a partnership with KM Malta Airlines.

Codeshare partnerships allow passengers to benefit from a larger network of routes. For the airline, it means listing flights under its own flight number without actually operating the flights itself.
