Located just outside the major Hessian city, the Kempinski Frankfurt Gravenbruch was once known as a wellness oasis and a luxurious retreat in nature. However, in recent years, the property had lost some of its luster, and in late June, Kempinski announced an early exit from its lease agreement. After giving guests two more months to enjoy the Kempinski service, the hotel will officially transition to Hilton in October, as outlined in the official press release.

Upgrade or Downgrade for the Property?

The global hotel chain Hilton, with approximately 7,800 hotels in 126 countries, is welcoming a new addition in Germany. The property opening in the financial hub of Frankfurt is no stranger to the market. It’s actually the result of what will happen to the Kempinski Frankfurt Gravenbruch after Kempinski’s early lease termination. As officially announced by Hilton today, the hotel will become the new flagship for Hilton’s namesake brand in Germany, which boasts 600 hotels worldwide.

Renovations will take place during the hotel’s ongoing operations, and according to Hilton, significant updates are planned. However, given the October reopening timeline, it raises questions about the scope and what new features guests can realistically expect in such a short period. It's likely that Hilton will introduce some of its brand standards in the public areas and the 225 guest rooms.

The Hilton Frankfurt Gravenbruch is one of 60 Hilton hotels currently in operation or development in Germany.

What Can Guests Expect at the Hilton Frankfurt Gravenbruch?

The Hilton Frankfurt Gravenbruch is located about a 15-minute drive from the center of Frankfurt and has a rich history, dating back to 1586 when it was originally a manor house. Kempinski had operated the property since 1976, welcoming many prominent guests over the years. Visitors can look forward to a vast 25-acre estate with parkland, a lake, and an outdoor pool, along with multiple dining options featuring regional and international cuisine.

While the now-former Kempinski property excelled in wellness offerings, it also carried a somewhat traditional, even outdated charm. Whether Hilton can bring a more modern touch to the property in such a short time remains to be seen in the coming month.
