A new all-club Hyatt property just opened in Jakarta

While this is a pretty niche development, a former Marriott in Jakarta has recently transitioned into a Hyatt, and we’re genuinely excited about it. We first mentioned this several months ago, but now that the hotel has officially opened, we wanted to provide an update.

Why does it matter?

Keraton at The Plaza Jakarta has joined Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, one of Hyatt’s “soft” brands for unique properties. The 138-room hotel officially opened in late December 2024 and is now welcoming its first guests.

You might wonder, “Why does a random hotel opening in Jakarta matter?” Well, two things make this noteworthy.

First, Keraton at The Plaza was previously a Marriott Luxury Collection property (and before that, a Starwood Luxury Collection property). We stayed here during a visit to Jakarta in 2017. The property closed in early 2020, near the start of the pandemic, and it’s intriguing to see it reopening nearly five years later.

What happened during that time? Was the closure simply due to a lack of business, or has the property undergone significant renovations? Details are sparse for now, but we expect more clarity once stay reports start coming in.

Second, this property stands out as an all-club hotel. Most of us are familiar with hotel club lounges, but this hotel elevates the concept, offering a lounge experience for all guests. During our previous stay, breakfast was served in the restaurant, but guests could enjoy unlimited food from an extensive menu in the club lounge throughout the day. Think of it as an urban, business-focused all-inclusive experience.

Rates & points requirements

Now that the hotel is open and accepting reservations, what can guests expect in terms of rates?

For points redemptions, Keraton at The Plaza Jakarta is a Category 5 World of Hyatt property, requiring 17,000–23,000 points per night for a standard room and 29,000–35,000 points per night for a standard suite.

Wondering where to best spend your hard-earned World of Hyatt points? Check out our report that investigated thousands of Hyatt properties to give you the ultimate insights into where and how to redeem:

As for cash rates, the opening offer currently starts at around $200 per night, though this will likely increase to around $300 per night long-term. Considering Jakarta’s reputation as an excellent value hotel market, this is quite a deal, especially given the inclusive offerings.

Hyatt’s impressive Jakarta footprint

Jakarta is a fantastic value for luxury hotels, with many top-tier properties priced between $200–$300 per night.

As loyal World of Hyatt members, we’re thrilled by Hyatt’s robust portfolio in the city:

  • The Park Hyatt Jakarta is said to be extraordinary, and we absolutely plan to stay there.

  • The Alila SCBD Jakarta receives generally positive reviews and offers an evening happy hour for Globalist members.

  • The Grand Hyatt Jakarta has undergone renovations, with updated rooms and a highly regarded club lounge.

  • Now, there’s another compelling option in the form of Keraton at The Plaza.

We’re also intrigued by the Ritz-Carlton Jakarta Pacific Place, the world’s only all-club Ritz-Carlton, and the St. Regis Jakarta.

For those familiar with Jakarta, we’d love to hear your recommendations. If not the Park Hyatt, which property would you choose? It doesn’t have to be a Hyatt—it could be part of another brand entirely.

Conclusion

Keraton at The Plaza Jakarta has reopened as of late December 2024 as part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, following a nearly five-year closure. This all-club property offers an exceptional experience, with unlimited food and drinks in the lounge available to all guests.

Hyatt’s portfolio in Jakarta continues to impress, and we’re looking forward to exploring these incredible properties soon.
